Arrows Run Groups June Schedule

June Schedule

It's starting to feel a lot like summer at last, with lots of fabulous sunny running weather in the last month.

We launched our new track night venue at KWS with a great turnout and lots of Arrows coming along for the first time.  In June we have a slightly revised schedule owing to the Spring Bank Holiday falling on a Thursday - please look out for the UPDATED DATES track night email that was sent separately.

MWRRL has got off to a flying start with two races concluded already.  We managed full teams for race 1, but were one short on the ladies on race 2.  Please consider giving it a go - you don't have to be fast, just able to complete 10km at any pace.

Here's our runners at the most recent race at Ware.  Next race is coming up on 1st June at Harlow.  Please check out our Facebook events page for more info, or get in touch with Simon Speirs, Isabel Green or Steve Green.

Last Month's Summary

We had a busy month in April with many local events and even a few races!  We had Arrows at Brighton, Paris and Boston Marathons, one lone (or is that loon?) Arrow did the Ultra Trail of Drakensberg (40 miler option) in South Africa, plus a handful of Arrows ran the St Albans 10k, Flitwick 10k and Wimbledon Half Marathon, and a few other events, too.

Lots of Arrows have also been enjoying a 5km at parkrun; some as far as South Africa, Ireland, Scotland, France and many closer to home.  Also thanks to Mark Pattison for the weekly parkun stats where all of these interesting parkrun facts are coming from!

Stephen McKee is organising an Arrows parkrun outing at a different location each month.  Just turn up at the nominated parkrun at 08:45am for an Arrows team photo, and don't forget to wear your Arrows vest if you have one!

Here's the most recent outing to St Albans parkrun - well done Arrows!  The next one will be announced via our Facebook events page, or get in touch with Stephen if you want to find out more.

NOT RENEWED YOUR MEMBERSHIP YET?

A note from our membership secretary - Lyndon Hearn:

We're going to close the renewal process this weekend.   If you have not renewed by then but turn up to run prepare yourself for some raised eyebrows and probable banter...

We are a friendly club and aren't going to instantly 'kick you out', but to keep our insurance valid and to be fair to those who have paid, we do need everyone who runs with us to be paid-up.

Please also bear in mind if you currently have England Athletics membership it will expire in June if you don't renew it.

If you are currently injured you can renew later in the year... but the price will be the same for you and the process is more time consuming for both of us... so please do it now if you can.

Everyone who has not renewed but has been a recent member should have another email with the renewal process in their inbox.

If you have any queries or if you haven't received a renewal invitation please email Lyndon at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..uk

NEW!  TRACK NIGHT AT KATHERINE WARRINGTON SCHOOL

KWS, Lower Luton Road, Harpenden.  Thursday 5th May 7pm

I’m excited to announce that next week we will be hosting our track session locally in Harpenden at Katherine Warrington School. This will be our first time using the facilities at KWS and we hope to see lots of you there.

We will be hosting a session suitable for all runners - the ever popular 300’s relay (Paarlauf) session where you will be paired up with someone of similar pace.  Session includes structured warm-up drills, main activity and cool down.

Please PRE-BOOK if you're attending our track session - and please read the info below the Club Timetable for May section if you're attending!  Thanks.

#JustTurnUp - St George's runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays

If you want to attend any of our regular run groups at St George's, please #JustTurnUp on the night.  No pre-booking is required for our regular runs from St George's.

We will also always adapt any run groups to those that turn up on the night, or if possible form additional groups to suit varied paces.  Nobody will be left behind and we operate a *looping policy if we happen to have a wide pace range in the group.

*That means that faster runners are asked to loop back to keep the group together.
