Social Activities

As well as our monthly club 5k, there are many other social events to enjoy

Annual Events

Annual Awards Dinner – this is usually held in February and we look back at the success of the previous year as the Arrows and partners get together for dinner and a few celebratory drinks. Entertainment is provided throughout the evening which culminates in the presentation of the club awards.
Annual Summer Party – a BBQ is held locally on a sunny Sunday afternoon when members get together and enjoy food and drink (there’s a theme developing here) with friends and family.

Post-Race Events

Throughout the year the Arrows take part in a number of races and afterwards participants and supporters gather in a local hostelry to chat about the race amongst other things over the usual food and drink offerings.  Watch the Facebook page for details but you can expect something after the Fred Hughes (Jan), London Marathon (Apr) Wheathampstead 10k (May), Milton Keynes Marathon (May) and St Albans Half Marathon (June), and may more.

Parkrun

parkrun is a free, friendly 5k run that takes place weekly at over 400 venues across the UK. Every week a number of Arrows take part at a local parkrun with St Albans and Luton Wardown as regular venues. On the first Saturday of each month we aim to hold a 'tourist run', which involves travelling as a group to a different venue and participating en masse. You can look forward to travelling to venues around Hertfordshire and surrounding area such as Aldenham, Cassiobury, Ellenbrook Fields, Panshanger, Rickmansworth, Rushmere, Stevenage and Ware. But few of us can match the enthusiasm of our fellow Arrow, Scott Clarke, who takes it to another level with over 100 different parkrun venues (and 000s of miles) to his name.  Find out more about Arrows at parkruns here Parkrun

Other events

The Xmas Lights run in Harpenden is always a popular outing for the Arrows; held in December (surprisingly); we even met Santa last year as he visited the children of Harpenden and got a selfie with the big man in the Arrows colours. That was followed by some mince pies and carol singing when we got back to St Georges.

Ed’s Twixmas Curry Evening is growing in popularity each year and provides all Arrows with an opportunity to escape the family festivities and have some beer and curry locally in Harpenden.
And dont forget our fabulous 'Arrows Away' event, where we aim to attend a marathon outside the UK every year.

New events

We have a number of ideas in the making for more social opportunties.  Watch this space!
