5k Handicap 2024

Monthly 5k Handicap

On the third Tuesday of the month (unless notified otherwise) we run a 5k handicap race. Its a lot of fun and because we start the slower runners off first the quick people have to work extra hard if they want to win. We meet at the club as normal but try to be a few minutes early so that we can work out your start time etc.

After the race we either have tea and cake or occasionally head down to the Engineer pub for a bite to eat and a well-earned drink. (You can come for/with cake/pub if you didn't run too.)

You can shower at St Georges if you wish.

We run on the Winter circuit from Sep onwards. Please wear high viz clothing. If you can't run please come along and help with the marshalling.

16th of July

Despite the summer holidays and end-of-term fatigue, we had nine runners out, racking up some solid PBs, on a cool summer evening.

  • We welcomed three first-timers, two of whom bagged a top-three place. Well done and thank you for coming along!
  • Dylan Evans shaved a whopping 3:35 off his previous PB. This was his second 5k, let's see if he can repeat this feat next time!
  • Other PBs: Tessa Whitmore shaved off 0:58 and Nick Semple came in 0:15 under his predicted time.
  • It sure was a fast night with three runners ducking under 20 minutes.

Thanks to the marshals for volunteering their time, we would not be able to run this event without you: Louise Crosby. Doug Walmsley, & Djerk Geurts.

25th June 2024

11 runners braved the heat on the Nickey Line tonight. Mark Pattison is clearly in great form, taking over a minute off his predicted time. Leaving newcomers Christine and Dylan Evans to pick up second and third spot.

Well done to all runners who made it out and thank you to all marshalls who made tonight possible.

Great to see many of you and other Arrows tonight at the Oddfellows Arms to catch up and celebrate June Rowland's birthday.

23rd Jan 2024

Just 5 runners tonight, but there was a strong volunteer turnout so it was well-marshalled and catered!

Thanks to Simon for the lovely banana cake.

The winner of the race this month was Phil Dean, closely followed by Tessa Whitmore in second and Sanjay Gupta was third. Djerk Geurts won the £5 voucher for Arrows kit in the raffle.

Thanks to all the volunteers for turning out on a damp and windy evening. 🙂
