XC

There was a welcome return to the XC after the loss of a season due to the Covid pandemic in winter of 2021-22.There are always some stalwart supporters (thank you), some one-timers (thank you) and those that dutifully turn up to support all those others who perhaps take it more seriously than they should (thank you to those too!).

Attendance is typically between 20-30 of us, with the ladies matching the men on numbers. It can be parkland, grassland, woodland, flatland and "hillyland".  There may be mud!

We do, of course recognise that XC does seem to be a bit marmite (either love it or hate it) so for those who don’t like it, please take the arm-twisting you may be potentially subjected to with a pinch of salt.  We’re ultimately happy that people have the chance to run a race for free – but have to balance that with our desire to do as well as we have in the past.

Don’t forget, we always need a full team to score and everyone always counts – whatever your speed or position as your place will push everyone below you further down the potential for scoring against us.

Full results are available for the past years at http://www.runherts.com/xc.htm, however we also continue to be well represented in the individual rankings too for anyone appearing in the top 5 across 4 out of 5 races.
