Morning all. So I ran my first marathon yesterday! It was the Bewl Water Trail Marathon, (near Tunbridge Wells) which is a very beautiful two loops around the lake, mainly through lovely forest. Re my time, Louisa says I should just say that I had a lovely time, thanks! But I’m going to tell you because I think it’ll add some balance and illustrate that you can be an Arrow and run marathons even if your time is not under 4 hours!
I did it in 5 hours 25 minutes, which I’m extremely proud of :)
It was about 12 degrees with drizzle and no wind, so quite amazing conditions really, thankfully!

Mara puts us through our paces
(Aug 2018)
Over sixty Harpenden Arrows members of all running abilities were delighted to welcome Mara Yamauchi for an evening of endurance running coaching this week.
Mara, a two-time GB Olympian and the UK’s second fastest female marathon runner of all time (2hrs 23mins 12 secs), shared the benefit of her many years of training and competing as an elite athlete through a range of exercises over the evening.
Before getting to the running, Mara stressed the importance of good running form and led a number of drills to ‘train the brain’ for running efficiently and effectively, which she recommended runners should practice regularly.
